Long Term Care is insurance that can pay at any age to help pay for “custodial care.” Custodial care is providing assistance with activities of daily living or supervising someone who is cognitively impaired.This benefit can be paid whether it is to a family providing the custodial care in the home or to a facility that is providing this service.Long Term Care benefits are paid when of the Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) are lost:

  • Climbed out of bed
  • Walked to the bathroom
  • Used the toilet
  • Used the bath or shower
  • Got dressed
  • Ate breakfast

Long Term Care can be provided in many settings: nursing homes, your own home, assisted living facilities and adult day care.

Disability Income (DI) Insurance is designed to replace between 45% and 65% of the insured’s gross income on a tax-free basis. The policy pays a benefit in the event illness or injury prevents the policyholder from earning their usual income in their occupation.

Any person that does not have access to a group disability policy should explore a DI policy. For a person that does have a group disability policy and their income exceeds $200,000 annually and they want to insure their current income in the event of an accident or illness that would prevent them earning their current salary needs to meet with one of our consultants to make sure your income is protected.
